Thank you very much for choosing Sunnyside – Indian Hill Main House for your vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. We hope that you have the vacation of a lifetime. Our goal is to prepare the house so well that you will be absolutely thrilled and choose to come back year after year.

During your stay we provide support and answer questions by email to info@vacationrentalmv.com. Guests are expected to read the provided information and be self-sufficient. We have put all that we have learned over 150 rentals into this Welcome Page you are reading. Here are the key links that you should review.

Travel Plans

  • It is never to early to make your travel plans.
  • We highly recommend Travel Insurance. Insurance is the only way you can protect your investment in your vacation plans. Our lease has a strict refund policy.

  • Let us know what time you anticipate arriving at the house so we can, if possible, meet you and give a tour of the house.
  • To get this time add 15 to 25 minutes to the arrival time of your ferry.
    A 2:30pm ferry will arrive at either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven at 3:15pm.
    You will arrive at the house at 3:30 if OB and 3:40 if you come into VH.

Who will be responsible for the little things

You, the tenant on the lease, can personally take all of the responsibility for the rental or you may benefit from assigning a guest as “House Captain”. This is the person who will read the House Manual and assist fellow guests during their visit with routine questions. Sometimes the actual tenant is not the one staying at the house. Sometimes they are busy with other responsibilities or perhaps they simply do not want to be the point person for such questions as “how do I turn on the stereo”, “How do I use the grill”, “When does the trash go out”, “how do I get on the internet.” etc. etc. I make this suggestion because of past experience. Managing a houseful of people is not easy yet if any one of them damages something the tenant is responsible. If you assign a House Captain please provide their name, cell phone and email address.

Key information for arriving guests

  • Leave your shoes outside. The house will be cleaner and more comfortable if you don’t track the dirt in.
  • CARRY YOUR ROLLER BAGS UP & DOWN THE STAIRS – the treads are wood and fragile.
  • THE STAIRS ARE STEEP AND UNUSUAL – BE CAREFUL – Basement stairs are not suitable for small children.
  • Do not run the AC when the windows are open. We encourage you to use open windows and doors for ventilation. After all you are here for the lovely Vineyard Air. Pull the shades during the day and use the ceiling fan to keep the house cool.
  • Window sliders use sticks to keep locked and secure. Close windows ahead of rain.
  • Parking is provided for 3 cars.

Grocery Shopping is within walking distance. Exit the driveway and take a left onto Indian Hill Road. Proceed straight till you see Cronig’s Market. (Note – Cronig’s was closed for 2020. There is another Cronigs about 4 miles closer to Vineyard Haven.

Bugs, Mosquitoes and Ticks – You are in a natural forest environment. Expect some little critters. Do a personal tick check each evening with a shower. Use tick spray on your shoes and socks to discourage them.
